With the holiday season underway and Christmas right around the corner, the  Yankees partnered with New York’s 44th precinct to make sure  500 Bronx families had a Christmas to remember.

A Day of Giving

Thanks to the Food Bank of New York City, each family at the event received a $25 voucher to their local supermarket as well as a holiday gift. They also received a bag of fresh produce and shelf-stable items to help keep food on the table during the holiday season.

“We are thrilled to be out here with the Yankees and the 44th precinct,” said Edward Llsen, Manager of Business Partnerships for the Food Bank of New York City “We love doing this every year. This is our second year doing it here, but we do this every month at Yankee Stadium so we have a long-standing partnership with the Yankees.”

For Yankee Manager Aaron Boone, this event was a day to help make Bronx native’s holidays just a little bit better.

“Coming back to the same place for the second year in a row, it’s awesome,” Boone told Greater Than The Game. “I get to bring my kids and get them involved,  and to be able to have a small role in hopefully providing a little bit better a holiday for the people in the community is something that I’m really excited to partner in.”

Boone’s sentiments were echoed by the police officers who were helping run the event.

“I’m happy to be a part of a department that gives back to the community. It’s a very festive event, and I’m really happy to be a part of it,” said Officer Legan, a member of the 44th  precinct.
