Hannah Burnett Makes History as New York Giants First Female Scout
For the first time in 95 years, the New York Giants hired a female scout. Her name is Hannah Burnett and she has one goal, and that’s to win.
“The only thing I care about is for us to win the Super Bowl,” Burnett said “Our main goal as a team is to win a Super Bowl. That’s my goal, that’s everybody’s goal.”
A History of Excellence
Before Burnett made history in the NFL, she was tearing it up on the Lacrosse field for the University of Massachusetts. She holds the school’s record for most points in a game with 10. In her career at UMass, she was a 2- time all-region player and a 3 -time conference champion as well as being voted a team captain.
Experience on The Gridiron
In college, Hannah Burnett had one goal; work in the front office of an NFL team. While still in college, she got her first taste of the NFL while working for the Buffalo Bills as an events operation intern. She then moved on to intern with the NFL League office, where she worked in the player personnel department. Burnett got her first big break in the NFL when the Falcons hired her as a scouting coordinator and scout assistant.
The Winning Attitude
After three years of working and interning in the NFL, Burnett has made history. Although this is an integral part of the story, Burnett is not concerned with being known as the first, she wants to be the best. She told reporters
“I completely understand and am aware that this is an awesome opportunity, and it’s important for females in the league. But . . . I just want to be the best area scout that I can.”
